CREATE Charter High school was a public four-year high school. It operated under a charter issued by the New Jersey Commissioner for Education. Since its opening in September 2001, the school was run independently from the Jersey City Public Schools. In June 2010, Acting Commissioner of Education Bret Schindler informed the school that the charter would be revoked because it failed to meet its goals. This included having less than 5 percent of seniors graduate proficiently in the High school Proficiency Assessment.
